WaterIsLife.com COAST 2 COAST JOURNEY

On August 3rd www.waterislife.com kicked off a 40 day journey from San Francisco to Maine to share the www.WaterIsLife.com story. It was exciting to share this message with thousands across the miles, inspiring others to be involved in the fight for the basic need in many countries – clean water. Providing clean water will stop preventible diseases (dysentery and diarrhea) from killing thousands of children each day.

The Coast 2 Coast team talked with so many across our nation, sharing that each one of us can help make an impact in the lives of others – no matter how small.   Please contact us for more information if you would like us to visit your community to share the WaterIsLife.com mission and dream to provide lifesaving water solutions to those in need.  Come join us, and be a part of something bigger than ourselves.  You can learn more about the WaterIsLife.com Coast 2 Coast Journey on the Blog From the Field.

The team covered 9,605 miles visiting the following cities:  San Francisco, Park City, Chicago, Detroit, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, Portland, Maine, Fredricton New Brunswick, Indianapolis, and Oklahoma City.

We would love the opportunity to present the WaterIsLife.com story  to youth across the Nation. Please contact kristine@waterislife.com to find out how the WaterIsLife.com team can visit your school and inspire kids to reach out to other children around our globe.

WaterIsLife.com FAMILY GOES WEEK WITHOUT WATER

A family turns off their house water for one week, to save a child’s life for one year! This family of four shut off their Phoenix suburban house water for one week to show how people in Africa, and around the world must obtain their water.  They fulfilled their daily water needs by carrying water in buckets from their ‘water well’ to their home each day, a few times a day if necessary.  They filled their buckets at the local well – the Verrado Village Sport and Health Club – and carried their water up Main Street to their home which is approx. one mile round trip. They chose to give up their house water as a representation of how challenging it is around the world to obtain clean water each day.  Their goal was to generate awareness to help solve the global pure water crisis – all in honor of World Water Day, www.unwater.org/worldwaterday .  Watch their daily experiences at www.waterislife.com

They gave up water for one week, Sunday, March 22 – Sunday, March 29, 2010 in hopes that people would recognize and acknowledge their efforts by donating a simple $10 to save a child’s life for one year.  Each $10 donation purchases a water filter that hangs around a child’s neck and filters out bacteria that causes waterborne diseases, which kills 5000 children each day.

SUMMIT COMMUNITY CHURCH – AVALANCHE  YOUTH GROUP CAR WASH

Avalanche Teens gathered together to raise donations to support water filters to go to children in Kenya in August 2009.  The team raised donations to SAVE 80 KIDS LIVES! What a fantastic example of kids reaching out and helping other kids.  Thanks kids for making a difference!

TWEET-A-THON 2009

Thank you to all who participated in Tweet-A-Thon 2009!  The 12 hour event raised over 2000 water filters for children in Africa.  That is 2000 lives saved for one year.  The straws will be distributed in Kenya in August 2009.  Please continue to support us as we hope to achieve our goal of 20,000 straws to help the pure water crisis in Kenya.
